POSNA has partnered with the Setting Scoliosis Straight Surgeon Performance Program (SPP) to develop the first POSNA Surgeon Quality Improvement Database (SQID). POSNA members are encouraged to participate in the Scoliosis SQID, which will include modules for fusion and vertebral body tethering for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
This quality program is designed to assist in optimizing surgeon performance and improving patient outcomes in pediatric spinal surgeries. Reports contain comparative data that supports the identification of best practices and learning in a shared educational community. The Scoliosis SQID includes a minimum common dataset with time points at pre-op, post-op, 1- and 2-years post-op Participating surgeons will receive biannual dashboard reports on their scoliosis practice. There is no fee to join. By entering a minimum of five cases per year, each POSNA member will receive up to 10 self-assessment examination (SAE) credits to utilize toward their Maintenance of Certification with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons (ABOS).
