- Texas Scottish Rite Hospital Institutional Grant - $435,000 for Integrative Genomic Research for Children with Invasive Staphylococcus aureus Infections. These funds will be used to support a series of pilot studies in advance of an application for an NIH P30 grant as a Core Center for bacterial and human genetic factors involved in musculoskeletal infection. Included in the grant is support for studies of the bacterial genome and transcriptome including phylogenetic and network analysis; applied cell biology studies of neutrophil killing, endothelial cell uptake, hemolysis, and cytokine release; dendritic cell studies of adaptive or humoral immunity; and the temporal pattern of gene expression of children with acute hematogenous osteomyelitis.
