OREF is now accepting applications for the OREF/J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society (JRGOS) Health Disparities Research Grant, the JRGOS Health Disparities Resident Research Project Grant and the OREF Resident Research Project Grant.

The
OREF/JRGOS Health Disparities Research Grant provides up to $20,000 for a one-year study that addresses health disparities issues in orthopaedics, including strategies to reduce racial and ethnic inequities in orthopaedic treatment.
The JRGOS Health Disparities Resident Research Project Grant provides up to $5,000 for a one-year study that addresses health disparities issues in orthopaedics, including strategies to reduce racial and ethnic inequities in orthopaedic treatment.

The
OREF Resident Research Project Grant provides up to $5,000 to residents who are interested in research. Resident Research Project Grants are offered three times per year. Residents may only apply once during the year and are encouraged to select the grant cycle that most closely aligns with their research rotations.

OREF Mentored, Resident Clinician Scientist Grants Available

OREF is now accepting applications for the OREF Mentored Clinician Scientist Grant and the Resident Clinician Scientist Training Grant.

The Mentored Clinician Scientist Grant supplements the salary of an orthopaedic researcher that has secured an NIH K08 or K23 award from the NIH (or equivalent mentored research funding). This allows investigators to spend dedicated time in research for a period of up to five years to develop a long and productive career in academic surgery.

The Resident Clinician Scientist Training Grant prepares residents for a career with research as a major component.

OREF-OTA Trauma grant, Hip & Knee Grant LOIs due 1/17/19

OREF is now accepting applications for the OREF and Orthopaedic Trauma Association Trauma Research Grant and the OREF Hip and Knee Research Grant.

The OREF and Orthopaedic Trauma Association Trauma Research Grant will provide up to $200,000 over two years. Either the principal investigator or (PI) or Co-PI must be a member in good standing of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.

The OREF Hip and Knee Research Grant will provide up to $300,000 over three years. The PI must be a new investigator. A new investigator is classified as an individual who has not received an R01 National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant or its equivalent (e.g., VA, DOD, NSF) as a PI.

NOTE: Letters of Intent—The first step in applying for either grant is to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI). Please visit
www.oref.org for instructions on submitting an LOI. All properly submitted LOIs will be reviewed by the Research Grants Committee. If your LOI is selected to advance, you will be invited to complete a full proposal.

LOIs are due January 17, 2019 by 10:59 p.m. CDT.
