William F. Schrantz, MD
1945 - 2012
Bill Schrantz was born November 8, 1945 in Quakertown, PA. He was the son of a Marine, commercial pilot and RN. He graduated from Medical College of Virginia in 1970, joined Naval Reserves and was a Marine flight surgeon following medical school. He completed a General Surgery Residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital in 1976 and Orthopedic Residency in 1979. He then worked at Bethesda and a private practice. He served in Desert Storm 1990-1991 with Naval Reserves. He completed a Pediatric Orthopedic fellowship at DuPont in 1992. He returned to active duty Navy and practiced until 1999 at Bethesda. Retired from Navy and went into private practice for 7 years. In 2007, he completed a Spine Fellowship at State University of New York upstate. He joined Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia and later, in 2008, moved to SHC Erie. Bill passed away May 13, 2012 at age 66.
