In Memoriam

Jennifer M. Tareco, MD
1966 - 2024

We regret to announce Dr. Jennifer M. Tareco passed away on June 15 after a scuba diving accident. Dr. Tareco was a POSNA member for 25 years.

Dr. Tareco was from Colorado, born to Darrell and Nancy (Singleterry) Lindsey. After earning her Bachelor’s degree at Creighton University, she completed her medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She remained at Hopkins for training in orthopaedic surgery and subsequently specialized in pediatric orthopaedic surgery through a fellowship at NYU’s Hospital for Joint Diseases. She had four children, John James (JJ), Jesse, Julia, and Jillian. Her children were her pride and joy. She spent much time as a lacrosse mom, part-time coach, and sideline doctor for the many sports teams.

She was a pediatric orthopaedic specialist at Robert Wood Johnson, New Brunswick, NJ. In her spare time, she was an avid reader, dabbled in pottery, and was an enthusiastic member of the Hunterdon Harmonizers.

Dr. Wallace Lehman shares, "Jennifer was our fellow in peds ortho, a terrific surgeon and terrific person, who went on to be a wonderful representative of what we all want at POSNA. She will be missed by all who knew her."

Dr. Tareco was preceded in death by her father, Darrell, and is survived by her mother Nancy, sister Elaine (Jim) Geiser, brothers Jeff (Tricia) Lindsey and Steve (Kristi) Lindsey, her four children, six nephews, six nieces, three great nieces, two great nephews, and ex-husband James Tareco.
