Virginia M Badger, MD

Virginia Badger died in October of 2009 at the age of 83. She worked as a Physical Therapist and earned a Master's degree in Biology prior to attending Women's Medical College in Pennsylvania. She interned in Chicago at Cook County and took Orthopaedic Residency at University of Illinois. She was an original member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Study Group, one of the precursor societies of POSNA. She was medical director of the St. Louis Shriners Hospital, the first woman to hold such a post in any Shriners Hospital. She was a Colonel in the Army Reserves, and went into the military full-time in 1979, serving in hospitals in Tacoma and El Paso. Though diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1998, she remained an outdoor enthusiast and avid environmentalist until sustaining a hip fracture.
