Training Requirements: | Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), be board certified (or board eligible) in Orthopaedic Surgery and have completed a fellowship (or foreign equivalent) in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE). |

Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington’s Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine have an outstanding opportunity for a full-time academic Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Pediatric Spine. Appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level (without tenure due to funding). This position includes an academic appointment in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Responsibilities include participation in the pediatric spine program, assisting with general pediatric orthopaedics and pediatric orthopaedic trauma, resident and fellow education, medical student teaching, and clinical or basic research. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice encompassing pediatric orthopaedic spine conditions, as well as a robust program in clinical or basic research. This position has a flexible start date in 2023. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11-months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
