Additional Information: The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Duke University School of Medicine seeks an ABOS certified (or eligible) Orthopedic, Plastics, or Pediatric surgeon with fellowship training in Hand Surgery, with specialty in Pediatric Population to join the Department at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.  Academic rank and salary will commensurate with experience. The ideal candidate will provide reconstructive, microvascular, musculoskeletal, and peripheral nerve expertise to this young patient population.

Treating infants, children, and adolescents, this specialist will collaborate with our highly skilled team to provide cutting-edge, patient and family-centered neuromusculoskeletal care, with superior outcomes. Our faculty are academicians, clinicians, and educators; internationally recognized for their expertise in a variety of clinical and research subjects. The ideal candidate will contribute to the clinical and academic excellence of our department and help lead the department in advancing the care, research, and management of this patient population.

Duke’s Department for Hand and Microvascular Surgery has a rich history of leadership in this pivotal field. Our own James R Urbaniak, Virginia Flowers Baker Professor and editor of Hand Surgery Worldwide, along  with Dr James Goldner, helped establish Duke as a regional and national leader in the field.

The primary responsibility for the position will be participating in the care of patients at Duke University Hospital and the Duke Children’s Health Center. Additional responsibilities include participation in didactic sessions, seminars and rounds with fellows, residents and medical students. Opportunities to develop clinical research expertise exist and will be supported.
