Editor's Note

Over the next several weeks, we plan to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders in children. Treatment of neuromuscular conditions is a part of the practice of most pediatric orthopedic surgeons. Over the past 2 decades, the field of neuromuscular orthopedics has advanced with new guidelines for hip screening in children with cerebral palsy, the emergence of single event multilevel surgery (SEMLS) for the treatment of gait problems in ambulatory children, and advances in our understanding of the gait using the new gait analysis techniques.

We will start with an interview with Dr. Freeman Miller who is one of the experts in the field of neuromuscular orthopedics in children. I hope you enjoy reading this interview as much as I did. Please keep in mind that on our committee, we plan to provide residents with their educational needs in the area pediatric orthopedics and we need your feedback to improve our efforts. Please feel free to email me at hosseinzadehp@wustl.edu with any questions or comments. Your input is much appreciated.
