Additional Information: The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Qualifications include an MD, Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Orthopedic surgery, and special competency in Pediatric Orthopedics. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the province of Alberta.

The successful candidate will have fellowship level training in general pediatric orthopedics as well as cerebral palsy (lower and upper extremities) and other neuromotor and neuromuscular conditions. In addition, fellowship training in the treatment of complex upper extremity conditions would be an asset. Special consideration will be given to candidates with additional training in medical education, clinical epidemiology, and/or applied research.

The successful candidate will become a member of both the Sections of Pediatric Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery and will work in a collaborative model to advance patient care and quality improvement. Clinical duties will include pediatric orthopedic surgery patient care to the community of Calgary and surrounding areas. Call will be according to the site and Alberta Health Services policies. Appointment to the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary will be expected. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level will be required. Participation in research related to clinical outcomes or medical education is expected. Committee duties will be expected as the need arises.
